Piano Teachers in Edmond OK
Years Experience: Seven
Ages: All ages
I am a private piano and flute teacher with a music degree from Brigham Young University. I have taught private lessons for seven years, managing a studio of up to 40 students per year.
My emphasis is on teaching technically challenging lessons, in an accepting and fun atmosphere. I teach beginner and intermediate level players; all ages welcome.
I just recently moved to Edmond from Buffalo NY and am setting up a private studio in my home. Accepting new summer students immediately!
Here’s what parents have to say about my teaching:
“Heather is a WONDERFUL piano teacher. She started teaching my son when he was 8 years old and he continued with her for the next 3 years (until she moved). (At his last recital he played Turkish March by Mozart beautifully.) She teaches in a positive manner and provided a wonderful foundation from which to build on. She is able to work with parents to individualize the instruction for their own child and she is able to teach both the beginner as well as the advanced player. I highly recommend her!” – Susan D
“Heather was a great teacher for my young daughter just starting out. Her warm, friendly personality and nurturing way made for a safe and encouraging environment to learn to play piano, and fun for her from the very beginning, so that she wanted to keep going back.” – Sarah P.
“Heather is a lovely person and a wonderful music teacher. She taught my son piano for two and a half years, and I sat in on many of their lessons. Heather took time to get to know my son and created a strong bond with him that made him want to do his best. She was supportive and consistent, challenged him to improve his playing, and taught him music theory in creative ways. My son has ADHD and often requires redirection, which Heather provided effortlessly and patiently. She is reliable, enthusiastic and professional and was a pleasure to work with.”- Anne L.
“My daughter began taking lessons with Heather in the fall of 2011. Not only does my daughter LOVE spending lesson time with her, she has grown tremendously as a young pianist. Heather’s demeanor with kids is so charming and kind – it is no wonder that they work so hard to achieve successes. We are lucky to have found her! I would recommend her to any parent looking for a piano instructor!” -Julie B.

Everyone has an ability, whether a beginner or a professional. I like to meet people where they are and help them grow far beyond their expectations.
I began playing piano at the age of 8 and flute at the age of 10 and went on to study music through high school and throughout college at the University of Oklahoma. While my primary instrument is flute, most of my teaching experience has been with piano students. I currently work for the University of Oklahoma and perform with a local jazz combo, Perdido. I also teach OU’s Jazz in the Global Community course and sit on the Jazz Performance Series planning committee with the Norman Performing Arts studio.
