My name is Alexandrea Autaubo. I am a piano teacher located out of Blanchard, Oklahoma. I have been teaching for 3 years formally, but have experience teaching music throughout high school and college.
My piano adventures started at 7 years old at an exceptionally small music studio located outside of Rochester, New York. At age 8, I switched studios to a more experienced piano teacher in my hometown. Throughout the years, I learned many other instruments including fife, traditional snare drum method, trumpet, and flute. I have completed many music competitions throughout the years, earning high honors and have held slots for trumpet and voice in all-county and all-state bands. I played snare drum for 6 years with the Towpath Volunteer Fife and Drum Corps, participated in over 10 musicals through my local high school and local community theaters, and enjoyed marching in our high school marching band playing the trumpet.
In 2010, I was accepted into Bowling Green State University for Music Education- Voice and transferred soon after to Robert’s Wesleyan College. I did not graduate with a degree in music education, however, I obtained a degree in Religion and Philosophy. Regardless, my love for music and continued study has lead me down a path to my original goal of music education.
I believe a firm foundation in music comes through the understanding of auditory music skills, reading music, music theory and music history. I believe that a well-rounded, technically solid music education grows a musician into an overall better performer, composer, and possibly one day, teacher. Due to my philosophy, individual lessons also include theory and history components in addition to piano skills. These are not optional in my studio. My goal is foster a love of music for each student that is not always limited to the piano itself but can extend beyond, to help students learn other instruments, techniques, styles and so on within a positive environment.
